I needed a new wallet as my old one was falling apart, so I made this one out of deer leather I tanned. I used Hemlock bark and oil to finish this hide. The difference between leather and buckskin (suede) is a layer of skin. For buckskin, the top layer of the animal’s skin (the epidermis) is removed and for leather, it is left on. This creates a stiffer, shinier, and more water resistant material than buckskin; perfect for a wallet! This was sewn with buckskin lacing and closed with an antler button.
